そろそろ？

「グアムにおいてドッグレース場を禁止する法案」

「非人道的な犬の扱い」と出ております。

とってもいい事だと思います。

でもね〜

法律化しなくても

ドッグレースを再度グアムで開催するのはむずかしいと思うんですよ。

過去のドッグレース場のオーナーのいい加減さは

嫌というほど知らされましたし。。。

さて。。。

文章にある　 “prevent the inhumane treatment of canines…”

「非人道的な犬の扱い」ですが。。。

闘犬はいかなるもんでしょうか？

まぁ、闘鶏については

「グアム観光局」も「島のイベント」として「お知らせ」に載せてましたし。

ワタシはまったくもって

「反対」とか「賛成」とか意見は申し上げません。

どうやら文化の様ですし。

日本にも「闘犬」ありますし。。。

ただね。。。

この法案の意味がちょっと

Guam – Senator Tom Ada has introduced a bill that would prohibit the return of dog racing to Guam.
Bill No. 406-30 (COR) states that its aim is to “prevent the inhumane treatment of canines by prohibiting the establishment of canine racetracks on Guam. It would remove the current provisions of Guam law that permit canine racing, which the bill calls “a profit-driven industry that utilizes canines solely to generate revenue.”

Greyhounds, the common canine breed utilized at commercial racetracks, are often confined for more than twenty hours in warehouse-style cages barely large enough to stand up or turn around in. In addition to confinement, thousands of greyhounds are often seriously injured while racing, and thousands more are killed when they are no longer able to compete as a result of injury or age.

With the adoption of Bill No. 406-30 (COR), Guam will join 36 states that do not permit wagering on canine racing. Bill No. 406-30 (COR) will also prevent a repeat of the events resulting from the closure of the on-island canine racetrack in 2008. This closure resulted in the abandonment of more than 200 greyhounds, and required a significant amount of community resources, totaling nearly $150,000, to mitigate.

Senator Ada states, “the closure of the racetrack in 2008 placed a significant burden on the community of Guam since we are already overwhelmed with the abundant number of feral cats and dogs.”
